now the latest from The mansau Trial of Michael Jackson's doctor on Wednesday prosecutors played a disturbing recording of the singer speaking in a slow slurred voice now probably one of the most controversial deaths in History Michael Jackson's passing shook the world but even over a decade later many still refuse to believe that the King of Pop is truly gone the king of Pop's heart had stopped he was unconscious his personal physician Dr Conrad Murray who can be heard in the background on the call was attempting CPR now on to one of our other big Stories the King of Pop has died Michael Jackson the pop music and dance innovator passed away yesterday what most didn't know about him was that behind the spotlight he used to live was a childhood controlled by his father who would often use a belt to keep everyone in line strong parents are I think are very important especially in our situation if he hit me I would hit a back which is terrible if that was not enough his life was tormented by a rare disease that had people cruy mocking him so could these dark chapters of his past be connected to the headline we are seeing right now could this explain the shocking claim that Michael Jackson might not be as gone as we all thought let's find out early life Michael Jackson was not born the star that we know today his story started with a mother who had Big Dreams and a father who had even bigger expect ations Catherine Jackson was the heart of the family a gentle soul who dreamed of becoming a country singer but instead ended up working at Sears to help support the family despite her busy life Catherine never let go of her Devotion to her faith as a Jehovah's Witness and was always there for her kids in many ways she was the glue that held the family together on the other hand it was Joe Jackson strict tough and demanding by day he worked as a crane operator and by night he played guitar in a local R&B band called the Falcons but of course his real Legacy was not in that band it was in how he pushed his children into the music world and when we say pushed we mean it literally life under Joe Jackson was not easy his Iron Fist approach to Parenting meant the kids had to be on their aame all the time and the stakes were pretty high considering Joe's go-to punishment was a belt growing up in the Jackson household was an experience all on its own Michael had three sisters Reby Latoya and Janet and five brothers Jackie Tito Germaine Marlon and Randy but even from an early age there was tragedy watching them from the background Marlin's twin brother Brandon died at Birth which left a heavy mark on the family the house may have been full of life but it was also touched by sorrow by 1964 the Jackson family was moving towards something greater Michael and Marlin were still kids when they joined the family band originally called the Jackson brothers can you imagine a young Michael barely out of childhood playing conas and tambourines at home though things were not as harmonious Joe's strict discipline was in full swing and young Michael was often at the receiving end of it a belt was Joe's favorite tool of punishment and Michael suffered both physically and emotionally Joe didn't even deny it later in life he admitted that using the belt was a regular occurrence while it may have been seen as normal back then it left Michael with wounds that went far beyond the physical ones but even with all the hardship at home something incredible was happening by 1965 Michael was moving from the back of the stage to the front sharing lead vocals with his brother Germaine this was not just a small local gig anymore the Jackson brothers were evolving they became the Jackson 5 and they were not just some neighborhood band they started winning talent shows and capturing the hearts of audiences everywhere songs like Barefoot and my girl became part of their set list and before long it was clear this was no ordinary family band from 1966 to 1968 The Jackson 5 started hitting the road performing on what was known as as the chitlin circuit which was a collection of venues where black musicians could perform often in front of tough crowds these shows were hard work and the venues were far from glamorous but it was all part of the grind that turned them into a well-oiled Performance Machine along the way they opened for big names like Sam and Dave and Gladis Knight it was not easy but it was paying off then in August 1967 something huge happened the Jackson 5 won an amateur night at Harlem's Apollo Theater for anyone who knows anything about music that's a big deal winning at the Apollo was a sign that they had what it took to make it in the industry back in Gary Indiana they recorded their first single big boy it might not have been a global hit but it was a start so how did Michael go from there to winning Hearts around the world rise of a legend in 1968 The Jackson 5 got their first big break when they signed with steelt toown records but things really took off when Bobby Taylor of Bobby Taylor and the Vancouver discovered them he recognized their potential and brought them straight to mtown this was it the opportunity they had been waiting for the Jackson family packed up and moved to Los Angeles ready for their shot at stardom and mtown had a big plan to introduce them to the world Diana Ross would present The Jackson 5 to the public their first major TV appearance at the Miss Black America pageant in 1969 was a Smash Hit And of course young Michael stole the show by January 1970 their first single I Want You Back skyrocketed to number one on the Billboard Hot 100 and it didn't stop there hit after hit followed ABC the love you save and I'll be there all claimed the top spot on the charts Fame and Fortune quickly followed in 1971 The Jacksons upgraded their lifestyle and moved into a massive estate in enino California at that time Michael was on his way to Becoming a Teen Idol in his own right between 1972 and 1975 Michael released four solo albums got to be there Ben music and me and forever Michael amazingly his song Ben which was about a rat yes a rat hit number one only Michael could pull off making a song about a road to huge success but despite his solo accomplishments things were changing behind the scenes even as he soared with his solo career Michael stayed committed to his brothers The Jackson 5 continued to evolve reaching audiences across all kinds of music genres but they were getting frustrated mtown while a great start had tight control over their creative Direction Michael always eager to explore new things gave fans a taste of his expanding Talent during a dancing machine performance on Soul Train his robot dance became iconic in 1975 The Jackson 5 decided to break free from mtown they signed with Epic Records and rebranded as the Jacksons Germaine however stayed behind at mtown to pursue a solo career and their younger brother Randy joined the group The Jacksons then went on to release six more albums between 1976 and 1984 and toured the world during this time Michael took on a bigger role as the group's main songwriter crafting hits like shake your body down to the ground and Can you feel it but in 1977 Michael made a bold decision he moved to New York City to Star as the Scarecrow in The Whiz which was a musical film alongside Diana Ross though the movie was not a commercial success it was a turning point for Michael he met Quincy Jones a legendary producer who would later work on some of his biggest albums while in New York Michael also got involved with the growing hip-hop scene at Studio 54 which had a lasting impact on his music and this was also when Michael started paying close attention to his appearance in 1978 he underwent his first nose surgery the first step in his long list of cosmetic procedures then came off the wall in 1979 which truly transformed Michael from a Teen Idol into a superstar the album was a mix of Pop soul and Funk producing four top 10 hits in the US including Don't Stop Till You Get Enough and rock with you it sold over 20 million copies worldwide he won three American Music Awards and a Grammy for Best male R and B vocal performance but being Michael he was not satisfied he felt off the wall could have been even bigger by 1980 Michael had secured the highest royalty rate in the music industry at the time earning 37% of wholesale album profits this was proof of his influence and drive for Perfection and as we know he was just getting started soon he found his way to becoming the king of cool how exactly did he do that King of Cool in the early 1980s Michael Jackson had started making history his album Thriller became a cultural Milestone and who could forget the dazzling outfit a sparkling Jack Jack ET and that iconic single white glove shimmering with glitter Michael rocked that look during his Unforgettable performance at the mtown 25 yesterday today forever show British Vogue hailed him as the king of cool he made the moonwalk look effortless stylish and absolutely iconic but there is more to this story than just a moonwalk between 1981 and 1983 Michael teamed up with Queen's legendary Freddy Mercury the two musical Giants recorded several tracks together including State of Shock Victory and there must be more to life than this sounds like a dream collaboration right well it almost was but things took an unexpected turn when Michael brought a llama into the recording studio that's right a llama Freddy understandably shocked was not thrilled their creative partnership fizzled out after that and the tracks were left unfinished State of Shock was later recorded with Mick Jagger for the Jackson's Victory album but the collaboration that could have been stayed just a what if then came 1982 a year that would change the course of pop music forever Michael started by lending his voice to someone in the dark for the ET the Extraterrestrial audiobook but that was just the appetizer later that year he dropped Thriller the album that went on to become the bestselling album of all time with around 70 million copies sold worldwide the album practically owned the charts Thriller ruled the billboard 200 for 37 weeks straight and stayed in the top 10 for an unbelievable 80 weeks and it was not just the sales Thriller made history by becoming the first album to produce seven Billboard Hot 100 top 10 singles including bangers like Billy Jean be it and wannabe starting something Michael was Untouchable by this point but if you thought that was the peak think again on March 25th 1983 Michael reunited with his brothers for an electrifying performance on NBC's mtown 25 show the performance aired in May to a massive audience of 47 million people and during that show Michael did something that would change pop culture forever he moonwalked across the stage during Billy Jean the world was Bewitched and the moment earned him his first Emmy Award nomination it was the moment that made him a pop Legend at the 26th Grammy Awards Thriller cleaned house winning a record-breaking eight Grammys Michael shared this honor with Santana but it was clear who the KN belonged to he and Quincy Jones were named producers of the year and the album itself W album of the Year hits like beat it and Billy Jean took home multiple Awards including record of the Year and best RB song Bruce Sweden's engineering on the album was also a major reason for its success Michael also took home eight American Music Awards making history as the youngest artist ever to win the award of Merit then came the zombie themed short film for Thriller which became a cultural phenomenon it doubled the album's sales and earned a Grammy for Best music video long form Michael had become a global Icon by this time as if that was not enough his commercial deals started piling up too in the late 1980s Michael signed a $10 million deal with Pepsi that covered 20 countries and helped fund his Bad album and World Tour but that's just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to Michael's dominance during this era this does not mean he was living his life with utmost comfort and peace he struggled with many things even during the peak of his career his struggles in the mid 1980s the world noticed something different about Michael Jackson his skin was getting lighter this started wild rumors and endless media speculation some thought he was intentionally changing his skin color but the reality was quite different you see in 1983 Michael's dermatologist Dr Arnold kleene explained that Michael had Vitiligo a condition that causes the skin to lose its pigment on top of that Michael was also diagnosed with discoid lupus by 1986 the effects of Vitiligo were becoming more noticeable and he began using makeup and possibly prescription creams to even out his skin tone Michael always insisted he was not trying to change who he was but simply managing his condition yet people did not stop questioning him they wanted to know whether he was trying to alter his racial identity so yes behind all the glitz and glamour these personal struggles took their toll on him him during this challenging period Michael became close to Dr klene and his assistant Debbie row who later became his second wife and the mother of his first two children his appearance also began to change and Michael opened up about it in his 1988 autobiography and in a 1993 interview he admitted to having had two nose surgeries and a cleft chin operation he explained that he had slimmed down to maintain a dancer's body which only fueled more rumors some wondered if he had undergone more surgeries than he was admitting to there were even rumors that he was battling anorexia due to his thin frame after his death Michael's mother revealed that his early cosmetic surgeries were actually efforts to cope with his skin condition this tells us that the pressures of Fame might have pushed him to change his appearance further over the years but let's not forget one of the strangest stories from 1986 the hyperbaric oxygen chamber there was a wild rumor that Michael slept in this chamber to slow down aging he denied this claim but reports said he shared a photo of himself in the chamber with the national Inquirer as a publicity stunt for a movie he was planning the media also spread rumors of Michael doing everything from getting injections to keeping his voice high-pitched to proposing to Elizabeth Taylor there were even reports that he set up a shrine in her honor his manager Frank Deo dismissed most of these stories though he did confirm Michael owned the oxygen chamber as if all that was not enough Michael toured Japan with his pet chimpanzee bubbles the media quickly latched on to this portraying him as a real life fairy tale character and then there was the infamous rumor that Michael tried to buy the bones of Joseph Merrick known as the elephant man according to reports Michael's people offered $1 million for Merck's skeleton but the London Hospital Medical College declined the offer these stories only increased the Public's fascination with Michael's eccentric personality despite all the strange rumors around him Michael was still hard at work he teamed up with George Lucas and Francis Ford Copa to create the 3D film Captain EO which was a $30 million production that premiered at Disneyland in 1986 fans loved it and it became a cult classic and then came the time when he finally became the King of Pop how did this happen pop era by the late 1980s Michael was already cemented as the King of Pop it was a title that was not just thrown around lightly in fact Elizabeth Taylor herself crowned him with that name during the 1989 Soul Train Heritage award ceremony and it was not just Hollywood that noticed president President George HW Bush honored him as the artist of the decade Michael was not just known for his music though his generosity was just as legendary between 1985 and 1990 he donated an incredible $455,000 to the United Negro College Fund and all the profits from his hit single man in the mirror went to charity on top of that he won his second Emmy nomination for his performance at Sammy Davis Jr gu 6 th birthday celebration but as dazzling as his career was Michael's personal life was anything but smooth in 1993 at the height of his Fame Michael proposed to none other than Lisa Marie Presley yes that Presley Elvis's daughter and in true Michael Jackson fashion he did it over the phone the two had been dating for a while before they tied the knot in May 1994 in a low-key ceremony in the Dominican Republic however the media could not get enough of them and rumors swirled that their marriage was more about publicity than romance their relationship didn't last and by December 1995 they had separated Lisa Marie filed for divorce in January 1996 asking for nothing more than her maiden name back even with the drama in his personal life Michael didn't slow down musically he even contributed to the video game Sonic the Hedgehog 3 for Sega Genesis because why not in June 1995 he dropped the double album history past present and future book one which combined his greatest hits with new tracks the album shot to the top of charts worldwide becoming the bestselling multi-is album ever with 20 million copies sold but then suddenly we got the news that Michael Jackson had died on June 25th 2009 he passed away at just 50 years old due to acute propofol intoxication his personal Doctor Conrad Murray was found guilty of involuntary manslaughter the news of the king of Pops sudden death spread like wildfire fans everywhere were heartbroken by the news but even today some people believe he might still be alive over the years rumors and supposed sightings have kept the idea alive that Michael faked his death to escape the pressures of Fame some say they have seen him in random places and others think he is living and hiding so what do you think could Michael Jackson still be alive or is it just people's imagination tell us in the comments below
