Now that so many good scrapbook paper and embellishment designers are Web savvy, the Web is full of free scrapbooking graphics that can be downloaded free. So if you know how to do an online search and download files, you can find all the graphics you need to create gorgeous scrapbooks. That caused popular artist Mary Englebreit to remark recently that the Internet is so overflowing with terrific free digital scrapbook designs, it can provide nearly any type of images you might need. And she’s an authority on quality images; products carrying her graphics on them fly off the shelves as soon as they’re released!

Here are some of the types of free scrapbooking materials that are available:

Vintage

More and more people seem to be searching for antique scrapbooking materials. That could be because vintage art is so timeless and creates such gorgeous results. Antique cards make terrific vintage scrapbooking embellishments, as does antique clipart. And when you can find digital scrapbooking papers made from compilations of vintage images, you’ll experience digital meeting traditional in a beautiful and useful way. Vintage art also covers a range of subjects, which means you can find images as diverse as free vintage travel posters, historical sailing ships, Victorian fashion illustrations, magic show posters and vintage flowers. So whatever the topic of your scrapbook, you can probably find vintage art to match.

Holidays

Holidays just naturally invite the creation of scrapbooks, since those are the occasions when many of us create some of our most lasting memories. And Christmas, Easter, Halloween and Valentine’s Day aren’t the only holidays that make people want to create scrapbooks; many people are interested in the minor holidays too. There are all kinds of patriotic scrapbooking papers and embellishments on the Internet for holidays such as Memorial Day, Veterans Day, Fourth of July and Flag Day. There are also images suitable for Earth Day, Mother’s Day and Father’s Day and just about any other holiday you can think of; even the off-beat and downright bizarre ones.

Butterflies and Flowers

Scrapbookers seem to love flowers of all kinds, and why not? They work for nearly any occasion. Butterflies, too, have a large audience, because they bring to mind so many things we love: freedom, summertime and other happy things. Flowers and butterflies are also diverse, because you can find them in both illustration and photographic form, and in modern and vintage forms. You can even find butterfly scrapbooking embellishments that span both vintage and modern in the same collections.

Wedding Images

Scrapbooks and weddings are a natural combination, because it’s always been a tradition to have a wedding photo album. But a wedding scrapbook can offer an even more creative way to preserve your precious memories. There are many good free wedding scrapbook images on the Internet that will allow you to create one of these very special mementos with no or little cost. And if for some reason you don’t find any specifically for weddings that appeal to you, flower images would also be a great choice.

Baby

Like weddings, tiny tots invite the taking of photos. And, of course, people who scrapbook love to use those photos to create family keepsakes. Fortunately, this can be done for next to nothing using just scrapbook graphics from the Web. If you’re not up on baby images, however, you might find the color schemes a little surprising these days. Chocolate brown, burnt orange and red are popular, as are various shades of green. Of course, you can still find lots of blue and pink, but these days there are many bold color choices too.

So the next time you need scrapbooking  supplies, check online. You might be pleasantly surprised at the free images you’ll find.
