How You Can Care for a Foxtail Palm

One of the palm trees that is really nice are the foxtail palm trees.  It is a spectacular palm tree named because of it's foliage.  Each leaf looks like a fox tail.  That is where the name comes from.It first was discovered in Australia but since then has been grown in different landscapes.Since it is native to Australia there will be certain ways that you will have to care for the foxtail.In this article we shall take a look at a few of those ways.

First of all you have to be aware of the climate that foxtail palms thrive in. Because it is used to a drier climate it grows great in sunbelt areas.It you try to plant it in an environment that isn't like that, then the problems start to begin.Because if placed in climates that are colder it can get various diseases.Another thing you should know is that wet soils will rot the root.So the thing you will want to do that works best is to keep the soil dry and the ground well drained.

Next thing to look for if you are in the market to look for palm trees for sale is to not overwater the foxtail.  Although resistant to most insects and bugs it can get fungal disease. That is usuallly caused by overwatering.The optimal way to care for it is not to overwater and make sure to have good drainage.For a palm tree known to be hardy, watching out for that shouldn't be that hard to do.

And lastly the foxtail palm tree grows very easily.  Some palm trees like king palms aren’t so easy to grow as a foxtail.  That is why a lot of people are starting to like the foxtail.They work well either in full sun or it can be partly shaded.  Also you don't have to prune it often.  For most people who love low maintenance this palm tree is good.

So those benefits are what makes it nice to have foxtail palm trees.  As you can see although not as popular as some palm trees it does have it's benefits.
