What Went Wrong With Michael Jackson? By Dr. Michael Brooks
I was watching the news while sitting in the hot tub soaking. I was tired from my treadmill workout, when suddenly a news bulletin came on. Michael Jackson was rushed to the hospital in cardiac arrest the news anchorman said. Hmm….I thought, he couldn’t have been that old. I mean…he had plenty of medical personal attending him 24/7. Then, I recalled as a kid that I lived not more then 25 miles from him. He lived in Gary Indiana and I lived in Park Forest, Illinois. I knew nothing about him nor his family growing up during that time.
So, as I continued to soak, I thought what would I do with all that money and fame that he had? I mean, what worries did he have about being needy and wanting things? He could buy anything he ever wanted. Now, keep in mind that he and others mismanaged his money and his fame, bigtime! I have had needs and wants through-out my life. Some good and some bad. I can remember when I wanted a red Corvette when I was 18 years old. It was a must have. Borrowing dad’s car was not enough! I wanted to be cool with my friends at my high school. Well, that never happened, and I am glad it didn’t. The closest thing to a red Corvette I got was an old 1963 red Volkswagen. It wasn’t pretty, but it took me places. It sure beat walking!

A former exec of So So Def Records saw Justin’s YouTube videos and flew him out to Atlanta to meet with Usher. Usher liked him so much that Justin was eventually signed to Island Records by Usher under L.A. Reid- a huge accomplishment for a high school student! Bieber, whose first single featured little known rap artist Brainstorm, from the Renton, Wa based rap group Dyme Def, rose to number one on the charts shortly after its release. Bieber plans to re-release his first album as a “2.0″ venture, after the first release of the album was under budgeted for his sudden success. Release Date: 30-OCT-2001For such a boldly titled and apparently driven attempt to reinstate Michael Jackson at the center of the pop world, Invincible is a listless thing. Split between scratchy funk workouts and midtempo ballads that might have appeared as Bad B-sides, the album plays on and on while never seriously promoting dancing or romancing. Its handful of weird moments–the resurrection-by-tape of Biggie Smalls on the bridge of the title track, for instance–are hardly large-scale bizarre like the first disc of HIStory. The title track turns out to be hardly the rampant egofest you’d imagine; instead, its subject is a female whom Jackson cheers on. Likewise, the most ear-catching moments of the “comeback” single “You Rock My World” come with Chris Tucker’s jivey introduction. Despite a debt to “Payback”-era James Brown, “Rock” floats away like steam midway through. It’s almost a relief when the old self-regard turns up: on the growling “Privacy,” Jackson rants about muckrakers “stalking” him in search of “the stories you need to bury me,” all this long after foundering divas and troubled boy-group members have replaced him on tabloid covers. The man may occasionally break away from the mirror but seems unsure where else to find inspiration. –Rickey Wright

Jacko, as his fans loved to call him, started his fascinating career in 1969, at the age of 11 with The Jackson Five. Although he was the youngest of the five Jackson brothers, he stood out for his incredible dance moves and his high-pitched voice. In 1979, he released his first solo album, ‘Off The Wall’ that sold 20 million copies worldwide and went 7x Platinum in the U.S. However, Jacko’s career soared to the sky with ‘Thriller’, released in 1982, the album with the highest record sales in the history of music. ‘Thriller’ sold nearly 107 million copies worldwide, stayed #1 for 37 weeks and went 28x Platinum. Because of its enormous success, ‘Billie Jean’ and ‘Beat It’ were the first video clips ever aired on MTV by an African-American artist, which, in effect, opened the way for the Black community to gain mainstream acknowledgment. It also enabled the promotion and development of R&B, hip-hop and pop music.
